Pharmacy Services

Our Licensed Pharmacy provides prescription medications and diabetic supplies for Free Clinic patients. Prescriptions are filled at various times during the week. Prescription orders can be picked up at the Christiansburg Clinic and at specified times at our Giles location.

Our pharmacy service fills prescriptions for patients of the Free Clinic based on the medications we have available.

• All medications require a doctor's written prescription
• No controlled substances are dispensed (this includes Xanax, Lortab, and codeine)
• Prescriptions for medications not available at the Free Clinic cannot be filled and will be returned to the patient. It is the patient's responsibility to get these prescriptions filled at his or her expense

Our pharmacy is an affiliate of Rx Partnership, a public/private partnership that seeks to increase the availability of free prescription medications for eligible uninsured Virginia residents.  RxP obtains free medications in large quantities from pharmaceutical companies and distributes them directly to nonprofit affiliate pharmacies like us.  For more information about RxP, check out their website at www.rxpartnership.org.

Fees

There is a $4 handling/administrative fee for each prescription. Payment is required at the time of pickup.

How to place medication orders

Medication orders are called in Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The prescription will be available for pick-up on the Friday of the following week.

Friday pick-up times

Medications can always be picked up on Fridays.

Christiansburg: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Giles: Patients can pick-up on Tuesdays and Thursdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
