Am I eligible?

The Free Clinic brings critical healthcare to adults without health insurance and to those who are least able to afford healthcare. This includes people who are employed full or part-time; people who are temporarily unemployed due to downsizing, lay-offs, or other factors; and those awaiting disability claim determinations.

In order to ensure that our resources are directed most effectively in meeting these needs, the following criteria are used to admit adults to Free Clinic Programs:

Person must be uninsured
Person must be low-income (See chart below)

Potential patients should come to the office to pick-up an application and speak to a screener between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

For the Family Dental Clinic of the New River Valley, insurance coverage is permitted only if there is no dental coverage with the plan.

The person must be considered "low-income." For dental services, the financial criteria is different than medical. The chart below is based on 2012 Federal Poverty Income Guidelines and outlines the financial requirements for becoming a Free Clinic patient. Please note that family size includes spouse, live-in boyfriend/girlfriend, and unmarried, minor dependent children.
