Free Clinic of the New River Valley

Mission Statement

The Free Clinic of the New River Valley is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization that is committed to providing quality healthcare and dental services to people who lack insurance and cannot afford health care.

About the Free Clinic of the New River Valley

It's hard to find a job that offers insurance these days. And insurance is expensive if you have to pay for it yourself - too expensive for a lot of families in our area.  Still, no one can afford to be without health care, and that's why we're here.

The Free Clinic is a medical facility for adult residents of the New River Valley who are uninsured and are low-income. Our program provides medical, dental and mental health care as well as pharmacy services to eligible patients living in Montgomery, Floyd, Pulaski, and Giles counties and the City of Radford.

Our health care services are provided by more than 450 physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, specialists, dentists and local citizens who volunteer their time at the Free Clinic. We coordinate our services through relationships with the area hospitals, pharmacies, physician specialty offices and outpatient facilities.

A Dedicated History

In 2011, the Free Clinic will reach a huge milestone by celebrating its 30th anniversary providing healthcare.  From its evolution as a grass-roots effort by a handful of concerned local citizens, the Free Clinic of the New River Valley is one of the state’s largest Free Clinics providing comprehensive health care.

Patients can be seen by a medical doctor or nurse practitioner during a daytime appointment Monday-Friday.  Patients can still be seen during the Tuesday evening walk-in clinic, as well.

The Program for Special Medical Care is another important element of the Free Clinic’s network of services. This program supports the physician-patient relationship by allowing the physician to provide treatment in their private office. The Free Clinic has many local physicians who currently participate in this program.
